Schindler Holding Ltd. has announced a senior leadership appointment, with Dr. André Becker set to join Schindler as Chief Human Resources (CHR) and become a member of the company’s Group Executive Committee, effective 1 January 2027.
The appointment brings an experienced international human resources and business leader into the executive team of one of the world’s major elevator and escalator companies.
Extensive International Leadership Experience
According to Schindler, Becker brings extensive international leadership experience spanning human resources, organizational transformation and business leadership.
Prior to joining Schindler, Becker served as Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Board Member at Lidl. Earlier in his career, he held a range of leadership positions at BASF, including serving as CHRO.
His experience across HR leadership and organizational transformation is expected to support Schindler as the company continues to develop its global operations and workforce.
Completing the HR Leadership Transition
The appointment follows an earlier change in Schindler’s executive leadership. In November 2025, Hugo Martinho, who had been responsible for Human Resources, stepped down from the Group Executive Committee to pursue opportunities outside the company.
Schindler Group CEO Paolo Compagna subsequently assumed the Chief Human Resources responsibility on an interim basis in December 2025. Becker’s appointment from January 2027 will establish dedicated leadership for the function once again.
Schindler’s Group Executive Committee From January 2027
Following Becker’s appointment, Schindler has confirmed that its Group Executive Committee will comprise Paolo Compagna, CEO; Carla De Geyseleer, CFO and Deputy CEO; Matteo Attrovio, CIO; André Becker, CHR; Danilo Calabrò, Europe South; Donato Carparelli, CTO; Nitin Chalke, Asia Pacific; Patrick Hess, Europe North; Vikén Martarian, Americas and Escalators; and Meinolf Pohle, China.
The appointment adds dedicated HR leadership to a management structure spanning Schindler’s major geographic markets as well as technology, finance and information functions.
People and Leadership in the Vertical Mobility Industry
Leadership appointments at major elevator and escalator companies are significant as the industry responds to changing workforce requirements, digitalisation, technological transformation and evolving customer expectations.
Becker’s appointment places an executive with experience in both human resources and organizational transformation within Schindler’s highest management body.
Founded in 1874, Schindler manufactures, installs, services and modernizes elevators, escalators and moving walks for buildings and infrastructure around the world.
Dr. André Becker will officially assume his new position and join the Group Executive Committee on 1 January 2027.
