The industry veteran, who entered his 50th year in the elevator sector in February 2026, will lead the establishment and growth of Liftinstituut’s India operations

Mumbai: Ronnie Dante has announced his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Liftinstituut Certification India Pvt. Ltd., taking on responsibility for establishing and growing the organisation’s operations in the country.

Sharing the development on LinkedIn, Dante said his focus will be on bringing the expertise and experience of Liftinstituut Netherlands closer to the Indian market. The India operation will support the elevator and escalator industry through the certification of safety components and elevator systems, with an emphasis on safety, quality and industry confidence.

The appointment comes as Dante enters a new phase in a career spanning nearly five decades across Otis and Schindler.

A career that began at Otis in 1977

Dante began his elevator industry career as an apprentice with Otis in February 1977. During more than 21 years with the company, he worked across several functions, eventually heading Field Operations at its Head Office.

In July 1998, he joined Schindler India’s greenfield operations as Technical Director. His subsequent career with Schindler extended over more than 27 years, involving work across India and international markets. He retired from the company on 30 September 2025.

February 2026 marked the beginning of his 50th year in the elevator industry, a milestone that now coincides with his move into a new leadership role in certification.

Association with Liftinstituut began in October 2025

According to Dante, his association with Liftinstituut began in October 2025, when Tak Mathews introduced him to members of the organisation’s Board at an exhibition in Nuremberg.

Following that introduction, he became actively involved in supporting the establishment of Liftinstituut’s operations in India. His appointment as CEO builds on that involvement, with responsibility for developing the organisation’s local business and industry relationships.

Liftinstituut had also announced the formalisation of its India presence through a contract signed by Managing Director John van Vliet and Dante. The organisation identified Mumbai as Dante’s base for working with Indian lift safety component manufacturers and connecting them with its certification expertise.

Focus on safety component and elevator system certification

Dante outlined certification of safety components and elevator systems as a central focus of the India operation. He said the objective is to make Liftinstituut’s Netherlands-based expertise more accessible to the Indian industry and contribute to the sector’s development.

The company’s earlier announcement also highlighted support for Indian manufacturers seeking access to domestic and international markets.

Reflecting on his career, Dante credited his continued involvement in the sector to his interest in the elevator industry and the professional relationships developed over the years. In his new role, he plans to reconnect with colleagues, manufacturers and industry partners as Liftinstituut develops its presence in India.
