Hyundai Elevator will organise an employee-led natural soap-making activity at its Chungju Smart Campus on 12 August 2026, strengthening its efforts to integrate environmental responsibility into everyday workplace practices.
The session will begin at 3 p.m. in the campus’s main auditorium and will involve 70 employees who registered in advance. Participants were selected on a first-come, first-served basis through an internal campaign poster and QR code.
The initiative forms part of Hyundai Elevator’s employee-participation environmental, social and governance programme. It aims to demonstrate how simple lifestyle changes can support larger environmental priorities, including the protection of water resources and the transition towards carbon neutrality.
Employees to Make Natural Dishwashing Bars
During the session, employees will create dishwashing bars using natural ingredients. The hands-on format is intended to help participants understand alternatives to synthetic detergents and encourage them to use more environmentally responsible products in their homes.
Synthetic cleaning products can enter drainage systems and eventually affect rivers, oceans and other water bodies. Through the activity, Hyundai Elevator hopes to build greater awareness of how everyday consumption choices can influence water quality and the wider environment.
The programme will also provide employees with an opportunity to discuss practical ESG actions that can be incorporated into their daily routines. By allowing participants to make products that they can personally use, the company is seeking to turn sustainability from an organisational goal into a more relatable, individual experience.
According to Hyundai Elevator, small decisions made by employees can collectively contribute to water conservation and carbon-reduction efforts. The company plans to introduce more voluntary ESG activities that enable employees to participate directly in environmental and community-focused initiatives.
Broader Focus on Community Support
The natural soap-making campaign adds to Hyundai Elevator’s growing portfolio of corporate social responsibility programmes.
Among its previous initiatives, the company has assembled and donated solar lanterns to communities in countries where access to reliable electricity remains limited. The programme was designed to provide a safer and more sustainable source of lighting in areas with inadequate power infrastructure.
Hyundai Elevator has also supported children undergoing treatment for leukaemia and paediatric cancer. Over several years, the company has contributed financial assistance and blood-donation certificates to organisations working with affected children and their families.
Other employee-driven activities have included the production and donation of stationery items, such as block-style pencil cases, along with internal fundraising campaigns supporting different social causes.
Supporting Employment and Inclusion
Social inclusion has emerged as another important part of Hyundai Elevator’s ESG approach.
The company supports Ellis Cafe, a barista-operated café staffed by employees with developmental disabilities. The initiative provides workplace opportunities while helping create a more inclusive organisational environment.
Hyundai Elevator has also expanded its Oreurak Choir, an in-house ensemble for employees with disabilities. In June 2026, the company established a Seoul chapter of the choir and recruited more than 20 additional singers from the city.
The new members joined the existing Chungju-based group, increasing the choir’s overall strength to approximately 50 performers. The expansion reflects the company’s continued focus on providing employees with opportunities for participation, expression and engagement beyond their regular workplace responsibilities.
Through initiatives spanning environmental awareness, healthcare support, inclusive employment and employee volunteering, Hyundai Elevator is working to make ESG participation a more visible part of its corporate culture. The upcoming soap-making activity extends this approach by connecting the company’s sustainability commitments with practical actions that employees can adopt in their everyday lives.
