The ISEE Kolkata Workshop on “Elevator Industry Standards, IS 17900 Part 1 & 2” was held on 17 July 2026 at Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad, Kolkata. Organised by EEST and supported by ISEEVENTUS and the Council on Vertical Urbanism India (CVUI), the workshop brought together manufacturers, consultants, engineers, architects, developers, contractors and other professionals from the elevator and escalator industry.
Mr. Sourav Sarkar, Chief Electrical Inspector, West Bengal, attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he underlined the importance of safety compliance, quality standards and adherence to the latest industry guidelines. He encouraged professionals across the sector to adopt practices that support safer and more efficient vertical transportation systems.
The technical session on IS 17900 Part 1 & 2 was delivered by Mr. Nitin Kadam. The session covered key provisions of the standard, including installation requirements, maintenance practices, inspection procedures and essential safety measures for modern elevator systems.
Participants actively engaged with the session through questions, discussions and the sharing of practical experiences. The workshop also created an opportunity for professionals from across the industry to connect, exchange ideas and strengthen working relationships.
The participation in Kolkata reflected the sector’s continued focus on knowledge-sharing, safety and professional development. ISEE thanks the Chief Guest, speaker, delegates, industry partners and attendees for their contribution to the workshop.
Building on this engagement, the industry will next come together at ISEE 2026, taking place from 3 to 5 December 2026 at Yashobhoomi (IICC), New Delhi. The exhibition will bring together companies, technology providers, consultants and professionals from India and across the world to explore innovation, partnerships and business opportunities in vertical transportation.
