The vertical mobility package includes 20 Otis SkyRise high-speed elevators for the landmark mixed-use development.
Otis China has secured an order to supply 81 elevators and escalators for the GCC Liantai Project in Shenzhen, strengthening the company’s involvement in one of China’s most dynamic high-rise markets.
The package includes 20 Otis SkyRise high-speed elevators designed to meet the demanding traffic requirements of tall and complex buildings. The remaining units will comprise a combination of elevators and escalators serving different parts of the mixed-use development.
Otis announced the project win through an official LinkedIn update, stating that its mobility systems will support the movement of residents, visitors and businesses across the development.
Supporting a Complex Mixed-Use Environment
Mixed-use projects typically bring together residential, commercial and visitor-oriented spaces, creating varied passenger flows throughout the day. Their vertical transportation systems must accommodate regular commuter traffic, residential movement and periods of higher visitor demand while maintaining reliable connections between different areas of the development.
The scale of the GCC Liantai order reflects the important role that elevators and escalators will play in the project’s daily operation. By supplying multiple categories of equipment, Otis will be able to address both high-rise travel and movement across the development’s common and public areas.
Public information about GCC’s Casa Milano residential component places the development within the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, a major waterfront business and residential district. The area is being developed with high-rise buildings, green spaces, cultural facilities and international business infrastructure.
SkyRise Technology for High-Rise Travel
Twenty of the units will come from the Otis SkyRise range, the company’s high-speed elevator platform for tall buildings.
According to Otis, the SkyRise system is available in single-deck, double-deck and super double-deck configurations. Depending on the selected specification, the platform can support travel heights of up to 600 metres and speeds of up to 12.5 metres per second.
The system combines permanent-magnet machines, intelligent controls and technologies developed to deliver smooth, quiet and energy-efficient operation. Its configurations can also help designers manage passenger capacity and optimise the amount of building space allocated to elevator shafts.
Otis has not disclosed the operating speeds or precise configurations selected for the 20 SkyRise elevators in Shenzhen.
Strengthening Otis’ Presence in Shenzhen
The GCC Liantai contract adds another significant Shenzhen project to Otis’ portfolio. The company has previously supplied high-rise elevator systems for major developments in the city, including some of its tallest and most recognisable buildings.
Shenzhen’s continued growth as a centre for technology, finance and premium real estate has increased demand for vertical mobility systems capable of handling dense passenger traffic across increasingly complex developments.
For Otis China, the 81-unit order represents both a substantial equipment package and an opportunity to demonstrate how high-speed elevators, conventional passenger systems and escalators can work together within a large mixed-use environment.
The contract value, installation schedule and detailed breakdown of the remaining 61 units have not been announced.
